What did a study of sermorelin find?
Vittone’s study of 11 older men found a rise in night-time growth hormone without a change in measured fat or weight.

It is fair to ask what changed for the people in a study. A blood test and a change you notice in daily life are different things.
Small studies in older adults tested sermorelin or a changed version of it. They found higher growth hormone levels.
Where body fat was measured, the studies did not find a change.
The adult studies described here lasted no more than 16 weeks.
Each adult study described here included between 10 and 19 people.
One study gave people a changed version of sermorelin. That version was a different chemical, so its results cannot be treated as results for sermorelin itself.
These short studies did not show what happens after years of use.
In the 16-week study, older adults received the changed version of sermorelin. Their sleep quality did not change.
Other sleep studies gave growth hormone-releasing hormone into a vein. This is the body’s signal to release growth hormone.
Those study summaries do not say whether the medicine was the short form called sermorelin or the full hormone. They do not directly answer what today’s sermorelin care would do.
The old treatment approval was for children with a growth hormone shortage and poor growth.
As of September 28, 2026, sermorelin had never had adult-treatment approval from FDA, the US agency that reviews medicines.
Try asking: which study matches my age, my health problem and the result I hope for?
